A bridge between Germany and China
Teaching and training professionals to face the challenges of a rapidly changing working environment has been the declared goal of FOM University of Applied Sciences ever since its foundation 20 years ago. This has also included promoting the international mobility of working students. With its international programmes, ranging from language courses and summer conferences to semesters abroad for undergraduates, FOM offers students numerous ways to gain international experience.
Chinese students come to Germany
For over ten years, FOM has also been offering Chinese students, in particular, the reverse opportunity: After starting their studies at one of the three universities in China with which FOM currently cooperates, students spend two semesters at FOM's study centre in Essen, where they also obtain their Bachelor of Arts degree. The internationally trained graduates then have two possible options: they can either embark on a career with an international enterprise in Germany or China, or they can go on to take a postgraduate Master degree course at FOM.
Bundling of skills
FOM's range of study programmes for Chinese students is now one of Europe's biggest exchange programmes with universities in China. Since 2013, FOM has bundled these study courses and its collected skills and competencies in the university training of young Chinese students at the FOM German-Sino School of Business & Technology. This will continue to consolidate the German-Chinese study programme by offering students intensive supervision, developing its cooperation with Chinese partner universities and promoting an active alumni network for graduates.
